WOYWW 164

On my workdesk this week you will see the same wee Magnolia image as last week - still uncoloured, but at least I have chosen the paper and card I will use with it.  I also decided to dust off the sewing machine as I thought it would be nice to use stitching on my card.  I bought this for something like £19.99 in Tesco a couple of years ago just to stitch on card in case it would be bad for my 'big' machine, but the problem is, I don't use it too often and of course when I tried it out this evening, there was a problem - the tension was far too loose.  I fiddled about for ages and then finally had to get out the instruction book - the problem was that you have to use metal bobbins as it has a magnetized bobbin case and basically there won't be any tension on the bobbin if you use a plastic one - now who would have thought of that!!  Most of my bobbins are plastic so I will have to fill one of the metal ones with the right colour of thread - I can see the idea of stitching on my card maybe wasn't such a good one after all!  I also have out a couple of sewing themed dies, so I might just use those instead!!  Now go and pay a visit to Julia's blog HERE to see what everyone else is up to this week.

  2. I had a small machine like this one too..it worked great until something jammed the bobbin...I couldn't figure out what to do and I'm pretty good at that kind of thing so started using my big machine...outside of a sticky needle...no problems! #80

  12. Hi Bernice, thanks for paying me a visit yesterday. Seeing your sewing machine (what a bargain) reminded me of years ago when I had one. Now I'm not a sewing person at all nowadays - if a button needs sewing on something hubby does it lol.

The other day I bought a little gadget called a 'Sew Easy' which has interchangeable heads for different stitches which I'm gonna play with mainly to use on cards. Think I'll post a pic on woyww next week.

Have a happy week. Cheers, Elaine #10

  13. love your little sewing machine! Good luck sorting out your bobbins, I must admit to being very lazy about changing the colour thread, hence all my cards are sewn in cream! Love the way the stitching changes up the look of the card though, well worth the trouble!

  14. I have one of those cute little machines and it stays in its box, I use my big machine and it works a treat, I use the same needle for paper all the time and use other needles for sewing. I usually only put a little of the colour on the bobbin that I require but it suits me that way, I hate waste. stick with it or get your big one out it wont hurt it.

  17. Like Di (above) I have a Jonelle from John Lewis (pale pink) that I use but sometimes I use my big machine and just keep needles for using on paper (they blunt very easily) so that might be a solution for you? Thanks for visiting me earlier, I am late again this week but trying to visit as many as possible. Anne x #21
