WOYWW 217

I nearly missed out on this weeks WOYWW due to a very sick laptop! Sorry I was unable to visit everyone last week as I had to leave it with the computer 'doctor' last Wednesday and only got it back today - I'd been told to collect it last Friday, but it wasn't any better, so he kept it over the weekend and when I went back on Monday, it was even worse than before! But all is well now and I can get back to blogging at last! My desk has just got even more untidy since last week, but I have been die cutting some felt and have made a wee doggy key ring, using one of my very first sizzix dies!  Of course it was necessary to pull out lots of ribbon, beads, etc, to find out what worked best, and then I also found some bits and pieces I thought might come in useful for another project.  The Raspberry Road paper was a free gift with this months Quick Cards magazine.  The three new rolls of ribbon were purchased from Dunelm Mill, when we had a trip up to Belfast on Saturday - and guess what else I bought? - yet another piece of oilcloth for making bags! - this one has scottie dogs all over it.

WOYWW 216

Not so much what's on my desk this week, as what's on my chair!! Whiskers has taken over but is not making much of an attempt at crafting!  My desk is a mess as I've been tidying my craft room and I've just piled up all the stuff still to be sorted, on the sides of my desk.  In the centre are a few decoupage toppers I've been putting together and the shaped card to the left was when I was just trying out a new large die from Go Kreate - I have discovered I can now make my own shaped cards on my Big Kick machine!  Julia has posted early this week - so to see all the other desks, look HERE!
PS - Thanks to all those who gave advice on my sewing machine troubles last week - I tried all the advice - cleaned out the fluff, oiled it, changed the needle, adjusted the tension etc and it does seem to be working a bit better now!

Sweetie jars bag - 2nd version!

I made the second sweetie jars tote bag with an aqua lining, instead of pink - I'm not sure now which one I prefer! I would like to keep them all!

By the Sea

The Simon Says challenge this week is 'By the sea' and it reminded me of some paper etc, I had bought when we were on holiday last summer and hadn't used yet.  I had these really old sizzlet dies of lighthouse, pilings, seagulls, etc and so I decided to get them out and give them an airing!  the sentiment is from Craftwork cards, layered up on ovals made using my SU punches.

Easel birthday card

I finished off the easel card I started on Tuesday night, to try out my new extra large dies.  The pink card is SU Rose Red and the image is a free stamp, coloured with Promarkers.  So I can enter this weeks PFP challenge (Create a scene) and also the I Love Promarkers challenge  (Anything Goes).  I'm not sure who the patterned paper was made by as its only a piece I have used from my scraps box (I'm still working from it!!) and there are only a couple of small pieces left.  The ribbon is also from SU - Rose Red seam  binding.  The flowers were made using punches and the leafy bit is a Doohickey die.  The label at the bottom was made using a Spellbinders die and the message stamp is by Stampendous.  I think it could also be entered for the Allsorts challenge as its Fur and Feathers this week - as the dog has fur and the birds have feathers!!

WOYWW 215

Quite a tidy desk today as I've been sewing again dowstairs on the dining table - I've finished the first of my 'sweetie jar' bags (see small photo). If anyone has any idea as to why my sewing machine has suddenly started 'missing' stitches, could you please let me know - it appears to be sewing normally but when you look closely there are places where the top and bottom threads are not linking together, but just sitting on top of the fabric.
The workdesk photo shows the start of an easel card I've been making, to try out the large Nestabilities dies I bought recently when they were reduced by Craft Superstore.  The stamp came free with Quick Cards magazine and is called Annabelle's Meadow, by Wild Rose Studio - still waiting to be inked up!  Visit all the other desks this week, by going to Julia's blog HERE.

Birthday bear

A change from all the golf cards at last! The image is from LOTV and I've coloured it with Promarkers.  For the layout I followed this weeks sketch on the I love Promarkers challenge.  The patterned paper is from SU and the pink card
is from my scraps pile.  A couple of punches were used to make the flowers and the happy birthday label is from LOTV - so I can enter this weeks 'Happy Birthday' challenge.  The pink pearl heart is from MeiFlower.  The colours are a bit brighter than this IRL - just the usual bad photographer!

Just found out this card has been chosen by the LOTV challenge as one of their top three!

Yet more golf!!

I've used this weeks Mojo Monday sketch for another of the 'golf' cards.  The stamped image was coloured with Promarkers and some of the paper at least is by 'The paper loft,' from a collection called 'Old Town Tavern.'  The blue card is Bazzil, I think.  The sentiment stamp is from SU.

More Golf!

Another birthday card, this time using the Sweetstop sketch.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and the paper came from a really old K & Company 6 x 6 pad.

Golf again!

Another of the six golf themed birthday cards I had to make recently.  For this one I followed the layout on this weeks Friday Sketch challenge and used a Sizzix die to make the golf bag.  The papers are from a really old K & Company 6 x 6 pad called Hampton - very little of it left now. The plain burgundy card is from SU and the kraft card from Annamarie designs.

WOYWW 214

On my desk this week you will find a couple of golf themed cards - I was asked for 6 of them - so I still have four more to make - it's always more difficult to make something specific I think - I prefer just to make whatever you feel like at the time, just for the fun of it.  The scrapbook album to the right is new - I am intending to work on it between now and October for Mum's 70th birthday - she won't know about it as she doesn't have a computer, so it's quite safe to have it on here.  The decoupage sheets just fell into the basket when I was ordering the album! - they're Tilly Daydream by DoCrafts.  On the left is another piece of oilcloth, waiting to be made up into a bag - I'm getting a bit addicted to making them - I have kept two for myself (a large one and a smaller tote one) and have sold nine.  We were up visiting the 'Famine Village' (Museum type place) in north Donegal last week and called into Dunelm for some interfacing on the way home - well when I spotted this sweetie jar design oilcloth I just had to buy some!  The weather has been so beautiful since, that I haven't done much sewing but went to the beach etc instead.  We're not really used to it being so nice, so we need to make the best of it - 28 degrees yesterday and it was still 22 at midnight last night!Visit Julia's desk HERE to find out what everyone else has been making this week.

Second post today!

It's obvious I'm on holiday, when I manage to do two posts in one day! This one is the first of six golf themed birthday cards I have been asked to make.  For the layout I used next weeks Sweetstop Sketch - I really like this one, so might use it for one of the other cards as well.  The paper I've had for years - it is double-sided and has a graduation theme on the other side and is called College 101 & Dot Flourish, by The Paper Company.  I recently got a new storage system for my 12 x 12 sheets, so I can see what I've got much easier, and so I'm much more likely to use it! The golf ball is a die cut circle embossed with the dotty embossing folder and shaped slightly and the golf club is a Quickutz die.  The stamp is by Creative Stamping and the image has been lightly coloured and shaded using Promarkers.

Mojo Monday birthday

I followed the Mojo Monday sketch to make this birthday card.  The image is an LOTV diecut square and the kraft card is from Annamarie designs.  The flower was made using a couple of punches and the small doily was made using a die.  I had the Happy Birthday ribbon in my stash for ages and it just matched the card perfectly.

Wedding card

A wedding card using this weeks Sketch and Stash layout and a LOTV diecut square.  The paper is from a 6 x 6 Dovecraft pack, called 'Cupcake Boutique'.  The pink pearl heart came from MeiFlower and I used a SU border punch to make the scalloped edge on the pink piece of card.  The lace is from my stash - I've had it for years - it's a great big roll and I use it sparingly!  The sentiment is a Craftwork Cards one, cut smaller, by using a circle punch.  I can also enter Papertake Weekly as its 'Anything Goes' with an animal theme.

Lavender and lace birthday card

I finally took a bit of time out from housework etc. and did a little bit of colouring with my Promarkers.  Any cards I've made recently have been done in a rush and so I've been   using various toppers and die-cut squares, but its nice to just make a card for the fun of it every now and then.  I used the Sweet Stop sketch for the layout and the 'Lavender and Lace' theme came from this weeks Allsorts challenge - I'd better get it linked up or it will be too late to enter!  The stamp is from LOTV and the darker lavender coloured card is from SU, but the lighter one is just a piece from my scraps pile I'm trying to use up.  The flower was made using a Doohickey die and the lace is from a big long roll in my stash!

WOYWW 213

Back to making cards this week - a wedding card, using this weeks Sketch and Stash layout - I keep a note of the challenges I would like to do in the diary/notebook.  The thick felt shapes were cut using a Sizzix Bigz die and I intend to use them to make brooches or bookmarkers.  Visit lots of other workdesks by visiting Julia HERE.

Peppa Pig birthday cards

I made these cards for my twin nieces birthdays yesterday - they love Peppa Pig so I had to find some printable designs on the internet - I then just flipped the design for the second card.  The letters were die cut using some really old Quickutz dies - I've certainly got my moneys worth out of these dies! - there is set of upper and lower case, plus numbers - and so it has come in really useful for all sorts of things.  I will enter them into the Simon Says challenge - Anything Goes.  And by the way, there's really nothing wrong with your eyesight - its just my usual bad photography making it look all blurry!

Owl birthday card

I'm still on an owl theme - but with a birthday card this time.  Winnie owl is a digital image, cut with Nestabilities.  The floral paper is from a retired SU designer pack and the pink card is also retired SU.  The knitting was made using a die (can't remember the manufacturer) and the 'happy birthday' stamp and oval puches are all from SU. The kraft card is from Annamarie designs.  Simon Says challenge is 'Anything goes' this week, so I'll enter it there. The CCT challenge is 'Fly like a bird' and although Winnie isn't actually flying at the moment, she definitely IS a bird, so I think it would be OK to enter it there as well!
