Yes its that time of the week when we can have a nosey at everyones workdesk - to join in, visit Julia HERE. First of all I need to say a big thank you to all those who gave advice about my doily die last week, and in particular Mary Anne, who was very helpful indeed. I tried a bit of everything - I wiped the die and the card all over with a tumble dryer sheet, then used waxed paper (well it was actually silicon coated baking paper as my local Tesco didn't have waxed paper) between the die and the card. It all cut out really well and afterwards I just needed to tap sharply on the back of the die and all the wee 'bits' fell out - now wasn't that a great success!
My desk is even more cluttered today than normal - I'm still trying to do a few things for the craft stall in November so I bought some small jamjars yesterday to cover with felt to make into cupcake style pincushions (I hope - haven't actually tried this yet). Then I bought some Ruffles yarn to make a scarf - I have lots in blues and greens but my friend told me last year I needed to do some in reds, purples and pinks (green and blue isn't everybodys favourite colour!!). The messy pile to the right is still waiting to be tidied away, after making some cards recently.

ReplyDeleteLol - I do the same with colours in my beading! What do you mean, not everyone loves blues and greens, they're MY favourite colours..... :D I'm trying very hard to incorporate a wider colour range into what I do as well! The purple yarn is lovely, by the way!

Aware ice, your friend gives you good advice..when I had a shop I used to really struggle to buy stock: trying to uh stuff you don't like but other people might is so hard!! You're doing we'll with your preparations , ili,e the idea of theirs with pincushion very much.
ReplyDeletethose pincushions sound cute! Happy WOYWW Lindsay #7
ReplyDeleteSo glad the doily die thingy got resolved, I was tearing my hair out (as well as the paper in the actual die) before I discovered the baking paper secret). Hope the pincushion things come out ok, I get on a theme, buy all the stuff then usually don't do much with it lol.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Elaine #19 Thanks for visiting earlier.
I've got about 1/2 doz balls of ruffle yarn, must dig out the big needles and knit them up, after I've finished hubby's socks of course! I'm looking at getting a doily die so I read the tips again about getting it out of the die, good to know. Hope the pincushions turn out ok, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. I wonder if your ribbon boards would sell, the one you did for yourself was very pretty.
