I'm still making aniversary and engagement cards - so lots of bits on my desk this week. The paper pad is MME and is one of those ones you just like to look at rather than actually use! I have just spent ages picking all the wee bits of paper out of the doily die - if anyone has any tips for an easier way to do this than with tweezers, I'd be delighted to hear about it! The double sided tape in two widths is my preferred method of sticking everything together - I go through rolls and rolls of the stuff - I order a dozen at a time from Viking Direct! The rubber stamp is an old Sugar Nellie - I'm hoping to use it soon to make a card for their latest challenge. The beads are still there from all the felt creations I was making last week and the phone is in the middle of all the clutter as I've just made my wee bedtime call to my Mum!

I know what you mean about having paper you like to look at and never seem to use. I am trying to break that habit. I love seeing stamps. I can't get enough of them. I like the one you stamped already. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

ReplyDeleteBernice, what time do you go to bed!! Late, that's what time! Love MME paper too, that SEI paper pad on my desk is called Berry Melody, really funky but very pretty too. Don't have time to knit three socks!! Must find that other one, haven't even worn the blummin' thing yet!!

love the images you have on your desk, very cute! I have no better method for removing those pesky little bits from dies!
ReplyDeletehave a great week, Debxx
Hi Bernice, lovely to see your cards, good luck with them, I'm sure your not the only one who has paper that never gets used. Happy WOYWW! Gillian #23
ReplyDeleteHi Bernice, I have that paper pad too and love it. The 'secret' to the doily thing is put an extra shim card strip in the sandwich before running through the die cutting machine. Any left over bits I usually poke out with pointy end scissors.
ReplyDeleteI also use lots of double sided tape and buy mine in bulk too.
Happy woyww.
Cheers, Elaine #21
Love the 6x6 pad. The image in the far right is way too cute. Good luck getting everything finished
ReplyDeleteLove the Sugar Nellie stamp, looks like a lot of fun to me. Just being organized to create will be fun. Enjoy WOYWW #34
ReplyDeleteCute stamped images, the paper pad looks nice. Jill #44
ReplyDeleteNice neat desk! Are you a night owl too! I love the quiet and the ability to do as I please late nights! Love that MME paper and have been buying pads of it on sale at peachycheap.com. It is a daily deal site and they had 4 pads for $9.99 today. Yay! Have a great week. Vickie #41
ReplyDeletei agree double sided tape is invaluable, have you tried some wax paper when using the die?
ReplyDeletehave a great woyww

ReplyDeleteAnother tidy desk
- perhaps I should get into the habit of doing one thing at a time instead of dashing off with daft ideas and having loads of half finished things hanging around.

Mary Anne is using cheap tumble drier sheets I believe - check out her blog, she's a die cutting genius..and handily, no 2 on our WOYWW list! Like the colour ways you've got going on at your desk...and you know..you're going to have to use that lovely paper before you can buy more, huh!! yeah, right!
ReplyDeleteThe doily thing would drive me nuts too. Try using different papers like parchment you'll be sure to find one that gives a better result.

I knew I had read somewhere that someone used a tumble drier sheet and somebody used freezer paper too not sure what it is or how????? They really are too fiddly for me but I love the look when others use them.xx#70
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem when I do intricate designs on the Silhouette Cameo. I did watch someone once getting the tiny bits out of a decoupage sheet, rubbing it around with a bone folder on the back of a soft mouse mat. Not sure if it would work with a die though. Love that design you are using. Have a good week. xx Maggie #88
ReplyDeletePS forgot to say thank you for visiting me today. xx Maggie #88
ReplyDeleteI love the doily dies.... a hint I've seen is to get a roll of non stick baking parchment and use that between the die and the card. The card comes out easily, the parchment doesn't stick (cos it's non stick, and finer than card) and you get two cuts for one... Other than that, I use an old winkle pin or a dressmakers pin to get the bits out - there's one or two of the fancy spellbinder dies that stick like that too....
ReplyDeleteBut like JD says, head over to Mary Anne for help!
Gorgeous images on your desk, and you've beautifully coloured that front one!
Thanks for stopping by....
Your desktop looks quite inspiring actually. I spied the Magnolia stamp up on the right, I had collected a few but not practiced my colouring! If we all used the paper we have collected - well the companies would go out of business! So we are actually engaged in stimulating the economy with our hoarding of paper LOL Hugs, Sandi #37
ReplyDeleteThat is one really sweet stamped image you have front and centre. Try bluetak it is fast and easy. Also try flicking the die cut first.
ReplyDeleteHppy WOYWW

Oh that card is so soft and sweetly coloured. And yes, dryer sheets (and I find rubbing the surface of the CARD is often enough, on the side against the cutting edge) help hugely, but also a thin metal plate. I used a bit of quite thick Art Emboss metal and it helped A LOT. I go thru the options in excruciating detail on my blog so won't rehash it here :) Happy WOYWW

Love your colouring, so pretty
ReplyDeleteVery tidy and inspiring desk!!!
ReplyDeletehappy WOYWW!!

It's not just me who can't use paper pads then! I'm getting quite a collection! Lovely blog xx #92
ReplyDeleteThose cards look lovely from the progress I can see and I like the assembly line you have set up all orderly!Tamika #14
ReplyDeleteHi Bernice, those papers are beautiful and that stamp is so, so cute! With regards to your die, you may want to try putting a layer of waxed paper in first (the kind you get on some loaves of bread). Then use a pokey tool or pricking tool to get the bits out. Just a thought. Thanks for your visit earlier. Happy WOyWW, Anne x #60
ReplyDeleteA very neat desk you have there. I have a lot of papers can't resist them and sometimes find it so hard to cut into some of them as well :-) Thanks for coming to see me. Anne x
ReplyDeleteHi Bernice thanks for popping by. I don't have many dies myself but I did see Sue Wilson - who designs for spellbinders giving her dies a really good wack on to the side of a bin to release the bits! She also advocates cutting with a layer of greaseproof paper in between the die and the card to help it release - You'll have to let me know if either of these really work as I don't have anything that intricate .....YET!!! Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 54
ReplyDeleteOhhh, love that sweet image at the front and the tans and beige papers. It all looks so calm!
ReplyDeleteMy tip has been mentioned by others. I was wasting so much time getting the paper out of the dies and the spellbinders and I tried cheap wax paper from the dollar store and they just popped out with the addition of one torn scrap of wax paper. I have tried parchment as well and it works too.
I will remember the dryer sheet ideas I read here today if I ever get stumped by one again.
Hi Bernice,
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little card there. I've seen the doily dies but thought I wouldn't want to pick out all the little bits and pieces left behind.... no very patient of me! I've read a few tips in the comments above though. If you try them you'll have to let us know how they work out for you.
Happy WOYWW

I too have heard that greaseproof paper works as a first layer. I have made myself use new papers- what pleasure is there in always using up old papers(although I do hoard and use scraps)Chris#111
ReplyDeleteHiya Bernice
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely colouring - do you use pencils? Great colour scheme going on there... Love the stamps too.
I have a tool from Silhouette with a really sharp hook on the end for picking stuff up of a cutting mat - however, I've been using it to do exactly the job you need it for. I have the Spellbinders Crosses 2 set and its really great for hooking out the bits you can't poke out. Other than that, try using some baking parchment or greaseproof paper between your die and paper/card stock. It works for some of the demonstrators on Create and Craft (e.g. Sue Wilson - and now Phill Martin has started doing the same)!
Lovely tidy desk too.
best wishes

The newest dies are so beautiful even though they are a pain in the bum. I just sit and poke the bits out with a pokey tool (I find it quite therapeutic lol)
ReplyDeleteI had a peek at your craft room while I was here, it is gorgeous xx
