Lots of embroidery thread and felt - that's what's on my workdesk this week. I thought it was about time I started making some stuff for our craft fair stall in November. I had seen some pincushions and keyrings on Etsy and Pinterest made from felt, and decided to have a go! The shapes were all cut out using Nesties and Sizzix dies - I'm sure its OK to cut felt with them - hopefully it won't make them blunt or anything - it really gives a much more professional finish than using scissors. I used beads for the eyes and nose on the dog and stitched on co-ordinating ribbon and bows so they could hang up. I'll probably do a few of the heart keyrings/handbag fobs in different colours.

Awesome bunch of stuff on your desk today. Love the little cushions or ornaments that you have made. I have "sharpened" them up again using aluminum foil to cut the designs. Have a great week. linky still isn't there. Vickie http://okienurse.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteBernice this is so cute!!! I know some people who use their dies to cut felt all the time, and have never heard of it causing a problem yet.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!!

These are lovely! Lots of detail and colour, how nice. As the others have psaid, felt and nesties are just fine, so erm, carry on cutting!!
ReplyDeleteI am sure all your offerings will sell very quickly at the forthcoming craft fair. They are very cute and perfect for their purpose. xx Maggie #36
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea to use the Nesties & dies for them- I'm sure they will be fine, the Sizzix dies do say that you can cut felt, and the Nesties aren't sharp anyway, are they? Hope the craft fair goes well have a great week, Shaz #60
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the forthcoming craft fair...they are really cute

What fun little felt items you have made, they are sure to sell well at the craft fair. I love sewing with felt, just no effort at all. You are definitely OK to cut them with your nesties and sizzix dies, I do and have no problems at all. Happy WOYWW, thanks for stopping by, Anne x #13
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun colourful desk ...love it all. I tried using nesties on material with no success...and mine were new ones so sharp ...how did you get it to cut felt??? xx38
ReplyDeleteLove your little animal creations. I think your dies will be fine as they use pressure not sharpness, well nesties do, not so sure about Sizzix but I wouldn't worry. Thanks for stopping by BJ#6
ReplyDeleteOhh these are fab Bernice! What a great way to use your dies, good luck with the craft fair, hope you sell loads!
ReplyDeletePS Yes, I have bother with those Memory Box dies too, but find if I put an extra sheet of heavy card on top of my plates when I'm cutting and run it through the Cuttlebug a few times, it comes out better.

ReplyDeleteThose little animals are gorgeous and sooooo cute! What a great idea to die cut them, that saves a lot of tedious cutting out! They will go like hot cakes, I'm sure! You must have way more patience than me to do all the fiddly stuff, I'm sorely lacking in that department!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by!
Hugs, LLJ #1 xx
Very cool crafting, Bernice. I haven't used my Nesties on felt, but it says you can on the packaging, and your cute goodies are inspirational! Have a great week! Darnell #120
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks so colourful with the basket of embroidery silks and the felt makes ... I hope it is okay to cut felt too. I'm sure I've seen Sue Wilson, of Spellbinder fame, cutting flowers out in felt. Hope you have a good week and happy WOYWW. Elizabeth x #49
