WOYWW 173

Back to that time of week when we get to have a wee look at everybody's desk - to join in go to Julia's blog HERE.
I have managed to clear enough space on my desk to actually start to do some crafting this week! I have been stamping and colouring in a PB image called 'Embroidered' in order to make up some cards to send out to all the ladies who come to my needlework class over the winter.  It really should have been started by now but I needed to wait a couple of weeks to recover from my gallbladder op.  Progress hasn't been as speedy as I would have liked - it turns out I have a haematoma which the GP hopes will go away by itself and an infection in one of the wounds.  This means I am now on antibiotics and have to trip up and down to the surgery for special dressings.  At least I know now why I was having unexpected pain and hopefully things will get back to normal soon.

I am going to use some of my new paper from SU for the cards - a couple of people kindly sent me a free copy of both of the new catalogues - so I HAD to order something now, hadn't I?!  The main one has lots of lovely new stamp sets, so guess what will be arriving next?!  This paper pack is called 'Orchard harvest' and some of the sheets have little crosses on them that look just like cross stitch so I thought it would be very appropriate.  The PB stamp is also appropriate as our cat likes to come and climb into any craft bags that are left on the floor, or play with any bits of wool or threads that fall! (She also enjoys all the attention!)
Oh - I did manage to finish the notice board from last week - although I had barely enough of the ribbon - hence the butterflies to cover the joins (the ribbon came wrapped around the bedding and curtains - so I didn't want to have to buy another set, just to get more of the matching ribbon!).  Its not quite as symmetrical as I would have liked, but I'll blame that on the shortage of ribbon!

  6. Super notice board, you won't notice the asymmetrical nature with all the bits and bobs in it and the butterflies look like they were supposed to be there anyway, I would never have guessed. Hope you get your cards finished soon, and thanks for stopping by. BJ#42

  9. I so do like that desk of yours! ;-) Has anyone else noticed we have the same desk? When I had my gall bladder out I asked if I would antibiotics. They said no, infection was rare. I said you don't know me! Sure enough I was back 3 days later with a raging infection. It took several months before my gall bladder area quit hurting. I suppose that makes sense--taking random body parts out is bound to do something to you!

I've not seen that Penny Black stamp before. It is a fun one and you've picked the perfect papers to go with it.

I like the message board and unless you tell no one will notice the butterfly joint or that it is barely a wee bit asymmetrical.

  13. So sorry to hear recovery has been disrupted, but good to have a diagnosis of the problem - and hopefully things will go more smoothly for you now. Make sure to take care of yourself. I have to say, I think the butterflies on the noticeboard are a genius touch, even though they were a necessity! Love the ball of wool image! Thanks so much for your visit and happy WOYWW...

  16. Your noticeboard has turned out nicely! Love that cute cat stamp! The sellotape holder is really, really, old (about 30 years probably?). It is a very heavy plasticky(?) material and that greyish marble effect is original. Happy late WOYWW.
