WOYWW 193

This week I'm working on a tapestry - I think it'll keep me busy for a while! It was started by an elderly lady who had problems with her eyesight and so it has now been given to me to finish.   Unfortunately she has done a bit here and there all over the bits that still have to be stitched (the couple in the centre were already stitched when she bought it and the background trammed).  This makes it even more difficult as her very uneven stitches are spliting the canvas and covering up the 'holes' where my stitches have to go.  She has also used a double thickness of the wool, so I have not enough of it left to finish some of the areas - don't I just get all the lovely jobs to do!!  Mum was up for the weekend and we spent some time on Saturday morning sorting out all the wool.  The picture below shows what it was like 'before.'  The older children in school are doing exams this week, so I think I'll maybe do a bit of stitching while I'm supervising if there's enough light.

  4. oh my gosh that is a project and a half I think you are really brave taking this on as it is going to be difficult to stitch when someone has already had a go. Everyone stitches differently I wish you lots of luck on this one
Happy WOYWW I hope you have a great day

  5. Wow - that looks like an amazing project! My Grandmother left behind a half finished needlework project when she passed away. I picked it up for her and finished it. I couldn't bear to leave it undone. Good luck with it! Happy WOYWW! Tammy #97

  8. Oh wow was a tangle of colours, reminds me of being 5 again, something I took two years (5 til I was 7) to make. All the wool was in a giant heap, even bigger than yours! Thanks for my snoop! Have a great crafty week! HaPpY WoYwW!!

  11. wow, can't wait to see it finished, can't believe the state it was in when you got it. Funny, when I first saw the top picture I thought it was hair, thought you were into wigs or something!

  12. This truely is a lovely photo of your working table and very promising - but not so easy to complete something from somebody else. But you will finish it I am sure. I like the colours of the threads.

  13. It is hard to finish work started by someone else. I have done it twice, once successfully, but the second time war much harder. The first one was an embroidery Mum started and it just got left. I finished it, we framed it and gave it to her for her birthday. The second was a pair of cross stitch flower pictures, which had been left unfinished when the lady died. Her husband asked me to finish them for him. I really struggled with those, emotionally, but also because she had worked her stitches backwards. I am looking forward to seeing your tapestry finished. Have a good week. xx Maggie #8

  17. took a minute for my brain to assimilate that it was yarn and not hair swatches I was looking at in this picture! Love all the color but I would imagine it is going to be difficult picking up where someone left off! Thanks for stopping by my desk this week and leaving a comment! Have a great week. Vickie #17
