A change of desk this week as a friend has given us the use of her lovely mobile home for a wee holiday. I was afraid of having withdrawal symptoms so packed a few sheets of card, some of my folders of unmounted rubber stamps, a couple of ink pads and a big box of Prismacolor pencils. I didn't bring Sansodor etc so have just been using a Derwent blender pencil for the blending and shading - it is not quite as effective but does the job! I rarely get time to colour with pencils as I am always needing to make lots of cards for sale and tend to use ready made toppers, decoupage or colour with Promarkers for speed. So it has been very relaxing to stamp and colour a selection of different images which can be made into cards when I get home. I just hope I have patterned paper to match up now, as I usually chose paper first then colour to match - but it wouldn't have been practical to bring my paper stash along!! I have my poppies cross stitch with me as well - you can see it is coming along nicely - though a year after we attended the Somme Centenary, I really think I should have it finished! To visit the other work desks click HERE for Julia's blog.
PS - Looks like they are filming something like 'Game of Thrones' here as there are lots of very strangely dressed people on the beach fighting with swords and staves!! - either that or the locals are even more eccentric that I thought!!

Sounds like you are in a very interesting place for your holiday. Always fun to take some craft when you go for a little trip. Have fun.

Or perhaps you've driven through a time warp....but actually, I love the idea of eccentric locals much more! Enjoy your break - must admit to never taking craft stuff with me these days, seems I like a total break! as for choosing papers - it'll be fine, you just make them work!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bernice, your holiday sounds interesting- you will have to look out for those scenes when it's back on! Great relaxing way to spend your time, just colouring quietly. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #11 XxX
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, I hope you have a good break! Taking a limited range of crafting stuff often helps focus your mind, I hope you enjoy what you've taken. I hope they're eccentric locals too, much more fun than the totally overhyped GoT!

How interesting to see the filming - I wonder what programme it is?
ReplyDeleteI love that poppy cross-stitch ... and I am a true believer in doing things in your own time. If you felt the need to rush and get it done quicker, it wouldn't be so enjoyable or relaxing :)
Have a wonderful Wednes-YAY!

ReplyDeleteHi Bernice. Thanks for visiting - yes, we do indeed just take everything for granted, and rather assume that these things are our right - not a privilege...
ReplyDeleteYour colouring is lovely - a great relaxing thing to do whilst away. Enjoy your holiday. I am beginning to fully understand the easier card route - having to make for the hotel and now a craft morning stall.... will be glad to have a few days away in August!!
Take care. God bless.

Pleased to hear that I'm not the only one that takes crafting stuff on holiday, how sad are we Lol!. Have a great woyww and a happy crafty week, Angela x16x
ReplyDeleteNice to take some crafting for your break.
ReplyDeleteAs for the glasses I kept a facebook diary https://www.facebook.com/billyjane.gregory if you go back to May 18th you'll get a day by day account of my experience. It is useful to read the comments as some people get on great with Varifocals but I wasn't one of them. I now have Bifocals but only as I now need glasses for driving as well as the reading. I have peered over my reading glasses for 10 years up to now! I can't use the Bifocals for the PC, and have just bought some driving sunglasses to go with my plain driving glasses for long journeys but the Bifocals are OK for driving to the shops and paying, stuff in the house, TV etc. Happy to chat via email if you want but do have a nose at my facebook page, the posts are open for all to see and are quite funny in places, Julia read them and was in stitches as she is pondering also.
Thanks for the visit BJ#19
Would have been interesting to see pictures from them filming. Colouring lots of images is a great way to pass the time when on holidays

How exciting to see that filming - I am guessing it is not the locals!
ReplyDeleteHope you are still enjoying the lazy days with your stash - we should all have a few days away like that.
Hugs, & Thanks for visiting me

I always struggle with should I bring or not. . .if I don't, I regret it, if I do - then what do I bring? It's so silly! I always want everything around me, too hard to choose just a few things! You seem to have chosen just the right things for your holiday! Too bad you didn't snap a photo of the filming! Sounds exciting! Have a great holiday! Thanks for sharing (sorry I'm late), Lindart #37
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely wee break... and crafting too... Bliss... May#4
