On my desk this week you will see a couple of cross stitch pictures I was asked to stitch. They were kits from DMC and all the threads, needles, etc were included in the pack. I haven't been able to contact the lady who owns them yet, to tell her they are finished (I think she has gone on holiday) but hopefully she'll be pleased with them when she collects them. The good thing about showing you these pictures is, that they hide all the clutter on my desk! - I have at least 30 cards to make this week, for a range of occasions, and that means my craft room tends to get very untidy! Mind you, I came home the other day to find a man with a clipboard in the middle of my craft room and it turns out he had been measuring it (and everything else) to re-evaluate our house for rates - we're a bit anxious now that we'll be getting a large bill, as the extension was built five years ago and they're only getting round to assessing it now - hopefully they don't backdate the bill for five years!

Lovely cross stitch. I've been thinking about trying it out myself--just haven't found the time yet! I'm sure when she sees them, the lady will love them.

ReplyDeleteG'day Bernice, gosh I remember when I used to do cross stitch although not on that fabric, I used the Aida cloth - in fact reminds me to include a pic of a lovely owl I did some years ago in next week's woyww.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are done beautifully, the lady will love it.
Happy woyww

What beautiful cross stitch. Is the fabric some kind of linen? I haven't done cross stitch in years (but still have lots of thread). I've seen several things on pinterest that I just love.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine that they can back tax you - nope, you tell them that the US doesn't do that..... tee hee
Happy WOYWW

The cross stitch is beautiful. Have a good week.

Beautiful handiwork! I love cross stitch but don't have the patience anymore to do it myself. Sorry to hear about the clipboard guy finally showing up. Maybe he doesn't realize how long it has been built. Have a great week. Vickie #40
ReplyDeleteGingers crossed about the bill!
ReplyDeleteYour cross sticth pictures are so pretty. Fabulous background linen!
Such pretty cross stitch! Happy WOYWW, Helen 24

They are absolutely beautiful! jenx 71
ReplyDeleteLovely. I used to cross-stitch a bit but I always seemed to change the pattern - never really did a whole kit. Your's is finely done and the lady will be thrilled I'm sure!

That dandelion clock cross stitch is amazing - I love the way you've captured it on the point of blowing away...brilliant! Thank you for the birthday wishes!!

Oh Bernice these are breathtakingly lovely - the customer will be thrilled..my word your eyesight is good! I'm staggered at the number of cards you're planning this week. I need to see how much of a mess that makes...I'm guessing it won't be as bad as you think!
ReplyDeleteBernice the flowers are beautiful and i am sure the lady will love them. Love how you were hiding the desk from the mess, made me laugh. We have our valuations done from the outside, they never come into the house, I hope you bill is low and your room messy it might of helped. LOL

Hi Bernice, Hope that the rate hike isn't too alarming. I think it is a real cheek that we scrimp and save to improve our houses and then the Council comes along and charges us for it - moan over! Your cross stitch is amazing - I love dandelion clocks. Your stitching is so delicate WOYWW Hugs from Helen 19
ReplyDeleteAmazing pieces Bernice, I thought they were printed on the canvas at first, I bet the lady will love them. I would struggle making more than 2 cards a week at the moment, 30 sounds scary to me! Hopefully the rates bill won't be too high, they always manage to squeeze every penny out of us though.

I love cross stitch and currently have a project on the go that I've been working on since 2007! Well, I use the term "working on" loosely - it's been gathering dust for most of the time!
ReplyDeleteI love the pieces you've done - the person you've stitched them for is going to be delighted!
So very sweet and pretty, Bernice!!

very fine and lovely stitching.

Your cross stitch makes are beautiful, love them both. On the rates man - it was their fault that they did not come for 5 years and I think you could argue that point. The Inland Revenue made a mistake on my pension by £1 per week for 5 years but they said as it was their fault I did not have to return it - hopefully you will find these people as accommodating. Thanks for your visit earlier. A x #58
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work - and good luck on the assessment (how very DARE they!!)
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW, Di x #11
You've made such a beautiful job of those embroideries Bernice, I'm sure the lady will be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteHope they don't clobber you for more rates...
thanks for your visit!

Oh gosh, that would be just wrong to backdate your bill 5 years. If they do, perhaps you could settle with some fancy cross stitch? Or homemade cards? I love the cross stitch pieces. I'm sure the lady who contracted you will be very pleased.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I hope your bill doesn't get back dated 5 years. That would be so scary!
ReplyDeleteYour cross stitch is gorgeous! I used to do that years ago...not sure why I ever stopped.
I'm having a giveaway, open worldwide this week. Come check it out if you get the chance!

beautiful cross stitch! hope things turn out ok for you on the rates. Michele #130
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cross stitch pieces Bernice! I used to love cross stitching and did it for years but it aggravates my migraines so I'm always so happy to see others' beautiful work. Thanks for sharing and thanks for visiting this week! xx
ReplyDeleteOh I don't like men with clip boards...they tend to make statements like 'it's more than my job's worth'!!! Finger's crossed that they don't backdate the bill. :$
ReplyDeleteOn to your beautiful embroideries Bernice...I think they are amazing!
I find I don't even want to sew a button on these days so I'm in awe of your exquisite work.
Your so talented and an inspiration.
Thanks for popping over to my place earlier.
Have a great fun week ~ Neesie #37
Fingers crossed for the rates adjustment. This cross stitch is so beautiful and I'm sure the lady will love it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crossstitch, Bernice, I'm sure the lady will be thrilled with them. Thirty cards! I don't think I could make that many in month, let alone a week!! When do you sleep? I hope the assessor is kind to you and leaves it the same as it has been. Have a lovely weekend, Elizabeth x #63
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I hope the man had not let himself in and there was another half there!
ReplyDeleteThose are cross stitch - oh they are a real credit to you - absolutely beautiful!
Hope you don't get charged too much more than at present and fingers crossed they don't come to us.
Hugs, Neet xx 27
I love the delicacy and shading you achieved with your stitching. My mom does embroidery and my wife cross stitches, but I don't do much of either. Blessings!
